Vermont’s Online Sports Betting
Vermont is set to kick off its online sports betting journey on January 11, 2024, following the enactment of a sports betting law in June. Governor Phil Scott expressed satisfaction with the realization of the proposal he made several years ago, highlighting the forthcoming regulated sports wagering marketplace as a significant development for both Vermont residents and visitors.
DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics Sportsbook emerged victorious in a competitive bid process to operate mobile sports wagering platforms in Vermont. The pre-registration phase, initiated on Tuesday, allows these companies to market their brands and enable potential players to pre-register for the upcoming launch.
Governor Scott emphasized the importance of the regulated sports wagering marketplace, emphasizing the inclusion of essential consumer protections and the generation of revenue for the state. The Department of Liquor and Lottery played a pivotal role in the selection process, ensuring a competitive and transparent procedure.
With online sports betting officially legalized in Vermont in June, state officials have been diligently working to solidify partnerships with operators to facilitate sportsbooks through mobile platforms. Projections estimate that sports betting will contribute up to $7 million in revenue during its inaugural year of operation, providing a substantial financial boost for the state.
Pre-registration is now open, allowing eager Vermont sports fans to secure their spots and engage in online betting when the platform goes live in January. As anticipation builds, the state looks forward to a seamless and revenue-generating integration of online sports betting into its entertainment landscape.
